I’m Eshani Hettiarachchi, Ph.D., an analytical chemist with 10+ years of experience in method development, validation, and trace analysis across environmental, materials, and biologic systems. My expertise in analytical instrumentation spans from high-resolution mass spectrometry coupled chromatography, to spectroscopy, microscopy, material characterization tools, and standardized methods, and am constantly leveraging these diverse analytical and computational tools to solve complex scientific problems. I'm currently based at UC San Diego as a staff research scientist and laboratory manager.

Outside the lab, I turn to the arts for balance and inspiration. Under the name Ceylon Painter, I share my love for both digital and traditional art — a creative space where I can play with colors, textures, and ideas. It’s my way of blending science with creativity, and I’m excited to feature some of those pieces here.
